Margaret Elman, designer and owner of Chair Couture, is known for refreshing vintage French furniture with striking, modern prints. But with her latest collection “Green,” she’s not just bringing antiques back to life, she’s bringing them back to nature.

If you’re imagining a stack of settees rotting in the woods somewhere, guess again. Elman reupholsters antiques in nature-inspired fabrics of her creation. So an intricately carved bergère is brightened with a bold grass pattern, while a dandelion field adorns a 1930s country bed and water ripples over the cushions of an early 20th century chaise.
